Importance of Web 2.0 Social Networking Sites in Online Marketing

103 41
Social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, etc.
offers you a very great opportunity to be known all over your target audience.
These sites give you a chance to actually connect with your clients at a more personal level.
However, things can be a little tricky when using this specific strategy.
Here, it is unwise to conspicuously advertise your product, it would seem like your shoving it up their noses, which is not good for you and your business.
You have to employ a much softer approach - an approach that would not betray your true intention, to sell your product.
Upon joining Facebook, for example, you will have to make a profile.
It is a must that you do not monopolize business in your profile, if you do this, no one is going to look into your profile, and you will be the laughing stock of everyone (because it is so darn stupid).
Remember that you have a separate website dedicated entirely to your business.
Your Facebook profile has to be more personal; something that will reveal yourself, the inner you.
Doing this gives the audience a feeling of trust, a little feeling of comfort and security.
Exaggeration? Not really.
You see, from both our personal experiences, we will buy a product recommended to us by a friend, right? This strategy using these networking sites work on that exact same principle.
You have to bear in mind that as an online marketer, you are without an opportunity to actually meet a client face to face.
Hence, you are deprived the opportunity to establish rapport.
The internet, the social networking sites, offer an entirely different thing.
And, therefore, one must use an entirely different approach.
In Facebook, for instance, you can present a lot of things about yourself and your personal life.
You can upload pictures of you and your family, your favorite music, post different quotes on your wall, etc.
These things subconsciously project a lot of things about you as a person, and not a selfish, materialistic businessman.
The more they know you personally, the more that they will like you, and the more that they like you, the bigger the chance that you get to channel them into your very own website.
And, so, without even knowing it, and without that much sweat, you have diverted traffic to your website.
What's even better is that they will never know that you have secretly and slowly driven them into your business.
