Five Reason Not to Have Finely Manicured and Perfect Lawn

103 41
I have these annoying neighbors who have a perfect lawn.
They seem to spend a lot of effort as well as money on it.
Every week it seems another workman is spaying some kind of substance, perhaps natural perhaps very unnatural on it, and it's cut very short weekly if not more often.
There isn't a single weed of b lade of grass out of place, and quite honestly it looks fake, somewhat like astro turf.
Don't get me wrong, my lawn looks fine, I simply do not obsess over it nor pour fertilizers and other chemical on it.
Mine looks natural, and after all grass is natural.
Here are a few reasons why a finely manicured and perfect lawn is not a great thing.
1) Cutting grass too short makes it more susceptible to negative effects of the heat.
Leaving a bit longer makes it more drought resistant and like likely you need to waste water on it.
2) Nature abhors a monoculture.
That's why all the "weeds" and flowers pop up.
Now you may not want all those weeds, but a few wildflowers and other nice plants add to a lawn.
3) It looks stupid and unnatural.
Only in a very few countries do people find such an unnatural looking lawn to be attractive, and the US is the main one.
4) Wildlife doesn't like finely manicured lawns.
If you want to encourage wildlife, like birds, frogs, and more, that is not the right approach.
5) You know, if you had a life, you wouldn't obsess over your lawn! My lawn and grounds look quite nice.
They also look natural.
Yours can too.
