Tell Me Again Why I Chose to be a Parent?

103 22
Alright, so I have officially made it through another day of motherhood.
Only three more days till the weekend, dad will be home, and maybe (ha ha) I can take a break.
Today I typed out World History notes for the older ones, a whole chapter of notes for Earth Science, and six flipping chapters for the baby in her history.
They get sick of hand writing their notes (waaa), and it helps them to get through their lessons faster.
I made a TWENTY TWO quart pan full of Ecclectic Soup(I call it Eclectic because I can't even remember how many kinds of veggies I cut and threw into that stinking pot), and they have been eating out of it all day today...
whining of course that they are sick of soup now (why the heck would they let me get some writing done after all, its just mom).
One is griping its her day to do laundry and someone else's 'nasty' clothes are still in the washer.
The boys are beating the snot out of each other in the living room...
don't EVER assume that just because your sons are sixteen and fifteen that they are beyond the stage where its hilarious to cause bleeding from the head...
and last but not least the littlest one (eleven and a half now) is in your face every thirty seconds wanting to know how to spell PHILADELPHIA.
Look at the stinking notes I just typed you lazy head!!! ('Oh yeah I forgot mom.
Sorry'..
he he he) So tell me again why I chose to be a parent? Why, after so painstakingly having that operation to PREVENT more children that I STILL decided to raise two boys too? Oh Lord, what did I do to deserve this intense attack from the butt crack of dawn until at LEAST midnight (because you know they ARE home schooled, its not like we have to have a schedule mom...
aarrgghhh)? What is this species called teenager? How did I come to acquire so many of them? Oh yeah, it was a God thing, remember? How come it doesn't always feel that way then? Because it wouldn't be a normal family otherwise.
I have a thirteen year old (daughter) who can burp Mary Had a Little Lamb.
I've heard her do it...
cheering her on from the other side of the church building while others look at her in utter shock.
I have a son who has in the past (just for kicks) done c.
p.
r.
on the cat.
I almost peed myself laughing! I have a sixteen year old daughter who can ollie with the best of the boys and play drums better than them too! I have a sixteen year old SON who can jump ramps over these really steep hills...
making mommy scream her head off at him (what he doesn't realize is its because I am jealous more than scared).
Not to mention that he is really good at driving.
I have an eleven year old who can dance in the Spirit with me to any genre of praise and worship music.
I am sooo freaking blessed.
I watched them two weekends ago in the sidewalks of downtown Asheville, NC ministering to homeless people, and the rich, and hippies, and bikers, and you name it...
They were witnessing the gospel of Jesus Christ to total strangers in a town which three of them had never been to before, while dad and I were in the street doing the same! They can play music, and sing, and dance, and do drama, and stomp ministry.
They can paint and draw, and make sculptures out of stinking COTTON CANDY MAN!!!! Why am I whining about the constant nagging and yelling, the fights and the "Waa mom, its not fair!"? Why am I complaining? My kids are awesome...
I just wish they would forget there are five of them and only one of me; and leave me alone for a little while so I can finish writing my next book.
(sigh)
