How to Decorate an Easy & Simple Baptism Cake
- 1). Bake two cake mixes in a cross-shaped baking pan. Let cool and set onto a flat serving tray.
- 2). Frost the cake with a crumb coat. This is a thin layer of frosting that seals the cake and captures the loose crumbs.
- 3). Frost the cake with a chocolate or white-flavored frosting using the spatula tool. The chocolate will give the cross the appearance of wood grain.
- 4). Hold a fork and set the tines in the frosting at the side of the cake. Pull the fork, leaving slightly wavy furrows in the frosting that mimics the grain in wood. Continue until the entire cake surface has the wood grain pattern.
- 5). Fill the decorator bag with a white or complimentary colored frosting and set the number 2 tip into the coupler unit.
- 6). Pipe a message such as 'God Bless" with the name of the baptism celebrant on the cross.
- 7). Remove the writing tip and replace it with the number 20 tip. Pipe a star or ruffled edging around the bottom of the simple baptism cake. Place a small cross keepsake, angel or baby baptism figurine, silk or real flower blossoms on the center point of the cross cake for an added decorative touch.
