New breather in the Paranormal Activity Series
This 2014 release is an inclusion in the Paranormal Activity series that brings a new twist to the whole franchise. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones preserves the trend of demonic possessions introducing us this time to the story of California based Latino resident, Jesse (actor Andrew Jacobs).
Post the unnatural death of Jesse's old neighbour Ana (actor Gloria Sandoval) who was believed to be a witch, Jesse with his best friend Hector (actor Jorge Diaz) went for an investigation into the woman's apartment. They found a room filled with black magic tools, demonic motifs, inexplicable video tapes and the creepiest of all, pictures of Jesse.
Soon after their visit to the apartment, Jesse experienced some supernatural entity overpowering his existence that grows by day becoming a potential threat to his family and friends. In this sequel, the young hero, Bastian, returns to the magical land Fantasia and attempts to slay the evils that threaten the extinction of goodness.

Jesse and his friend Hector did not realise that their curiosity over the death of their neighbour would bring back the dead Ana from the grave. Jesse's behaviour went for complete transformation marked by the devils, omen and witchcraft. He was converting to a homicide by day. It is when Ali Rey (actor Molly Ephraim) comes to his rescue but fails to relief him completely. Finally the address by Ali Rey, the unholy place, Grandma Lois' house does the job.
Without giving more spoilers, this movie sums up the series of paranormal events that Jesse had to undergo to banish the evil power that was trying to possess him. This 84 minute long horror flick is R- rated due to few scenes of violence, some depicting drug use, ubiquitous language and some with graphic nudity. The storyline though falls short of well crafted batch of scary plots creating spooks, however, offers a standard view of the footage.

Though characterisation isn't that well portrayed as is the case with other flicks in the series, Andrew Jacobs has proved to be the hulk in the movie as the lead. The movie was time bound and 84 minute is quite a less time for developing the perfect onscreen chemistry of the characters. Amidst all the time crunch and lags, Christopher Landon did justice to the script and screenplay that is sure to give you jitters.
Keep your eyes glued to HBO defined on 20th March at 10 PM to enjoy Indian Television Premiere of the movie.
