How to Avoid Putting God to Test

103 25
Before we fully comprehend how avoid putting God to test it is important to first see how this happened to our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
In the bible this happens after Christ had fasted for forty days and forty nights.
The Devil took him in spirit to the holy city and put him on a pinnacle.
He then told him to jump off this for the angels of the Lord to catch him.
The Lord responded with the words, 'It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
' This example can be used as a basis in understanding how not to tempt God.
Below are three major ways in which we may tempt God whilst being ignorant of our actions.
Provoking others to sin Sometimes we stand before other people and push them to do things that are wrong.
We lie to them that it is for a greater good.
That our intentions are for the right reasons.
We may even lie about others to them because we desire to seek an outcome favorable to our needs.
This is putting God to test.
If God is in each of us then asking someone to do something that we know is wrong for our own pleasure is testing the Lord as the devil did and we would be recompensed in kind for it.
Murmuring after prayer Generally when we desire things of God we put them in prayer.
Once we have put these things in prayer what we then receive is God's good will towards us.
God works to his own time and always for the goodness of our well being.
When we have asked him for something we must also learn to wait for that thing.
A good example of this in the bible is the children of Israel.
When Moses brought them out of bondage from Egypt they immediately began to complain in the wilderness.
They first complained about water and then food.
They asked Moses why it was necessary for him to rescue them from Egypt only to inflict more suffering on them in the wilderness.
They forgot about the woes that God had inflicted on the Egyptians for their sakes.
This is putting God to test.
Once we have asked him of something we must then wait for it.
False Prophesy Time and again we find ourselves in a situation whereby spiritual answers are desired of us.
People need reassurance in faith and their welfare and ask our opinion of the future.
At these times we must be comforting but not to a fault.
It is kind to have compassion but this should not lead to false prophesy.
This is putting God to test because we know before hand that we had no knowledge of God's actions yet we lied to please.
On these occasions the ramifications of our actions fall on our heads and not on those who sort our help.
Apart from failing to abide by the laws that God has asked us to live by these three above mentioned forms of sin are the ways in which we can put God to test and it is important to avoid them.
