103 32
St Patrick's Day is not just for adults, kids can celebrate it too.
When planning a St Patrick's Day party for kids, there are many great ideas available to make it a time to remember.
Start the festivities with some decorations, activities and a variety of St.
Patrick's Day party foods.
When the kids first arrive they will be excited and running around.
Starting the party out with some fun games will help use up some of their excess energy.
Games to Play You can't have a party for kids without some fun games to play and there are many excellent ones to choose from.
Playing games at the beginning of the party helps to get things off to an exciting start and it's a lot of fun.
Here are a few great games to play on St Patrick's Day: · Hot potato- Pass the potato around in a circle while the music is playing and when the music stops, the person holding the potato is out of the game.
· Lucky Leprechaun Says- This game is played the same way as Simon Says.
Just replace the words Simon Says with Lucky Leprechaun Says.
· Freeze Game- Play music and all the kids can dance around.
When the music stops, the kids need to freeze in that position.
Anyone who moves when they're not supposed to will be eliminated and you continue until one person is left.
· Shamrock Stomp- Cut out and tape green shamrocks to the floor.
Have one less shamrock than the number of participating kids.
They will march around the area stomping to the beat of the music.
When the music stops, everyone must stand on a shamrock.
The person left without one to stand on is out of the game and you'll need to remove one shamrock each time someone is eliminated.
Kids will have a great time while playing these games.
Just make sure you pick out some upbeat, fun music to go with the games to make things more exciting for the kids.
Party Foods Once the kids get tired out, it's a good time to serve some of the many St Patrick's Day party foods.
Here are few good ideas to help you get started.
You can serve cupcakes or sugar cookies with green icing, Leprechaun pie or Irish Soda Bread.
Make sandwiches and use a cookie cutter to cut them in shamrock and leprechaun shapes.
You can serve lime cool aid or punch for beverages or you can add food coloring to other types of beverages to turn them green.
If you're still having trouble deciding what foods to serve, pull out the cookbook or box of family recipes to get a few more great ideas.
After everyone has enjoyed a snack and beverage you can wrap up the party with a few arts and crafts designed for the age group.
Choose something that is a little challenging but that doesn't take a long time to complete.
For example, you could make a "pot of gold", do a hand painting or color and cut out shamrocks, leprechauns and other St.
Patrick's Day designs.
