The Serbians enjoy 7 national holidays annually.
Roads near major cities tend to get busy around the national holidays especially for a New Year and 1 May.
Travelers would do well to check ahead, particularly when planning a trip for Easter.
There are many local festivals throughout Serbia which are not included in the table bellow.

Since 10 century Serbians have a family holiday because they chose a different patron saint as the protector of the family.
Each Serbian orthodox family have one special day per year when they celebrate that day called Slava.
On that they, members of family does not work.
The most popular choices saints who Serbians celebrate are Saint Nicholas, Saint George, and Saint Michael.
Each saint is celebrated on a different date.
Once a bishop approved a family's choice of saint, a Slava was held on the saint's special day every year.
