I rarely watch TV sitcoms, but my daughter was recovering from surgery and I was at home making sure that she would be OK, so instead of my usual get on the internet to increase my income, I decided to watch a show with her.
She was watching Still Standing.
I have never seen it before but it looked like it would be a funny show so I sat with her to watch it.
Several couples were at one house in the neighborhood and they were discussing how to raise funds for their school age children.
After a funny little routine about fund raising someone suggested a Silent Auction.
Not really sure what a Silent Auction was and since I have my own fund raising site, I listened intently.
What this auction is, is all of the couples in attendance would donate some item that they have or something that they can buy and auction it off, by writing their bid down on paper.
The one that bids the most wins.
In the show, the show off couple donated a week at their time share.
The underdog couple donated a home cook meal and a teeth cleaning.
Apparently the wife was a dental assistant.
As the show progressed the underdog couple was belittled by the other couple, so they changed their auction to throw a party for 10 kids.
They raised the most money for the kids and came out on top.
Good show.
