Anna: Pressing the large designs into clay didn't work because the designs are quite intricate – the clay would press out from one depression and would bulge out into the next depression. That’s when I decided to actually carve out the clay with a similar method to wood carving, although I still press designs for some of the small decorative elements of my games. I use no tool to create any complete design at one time, instead every element of each design is individually hand created whether carved or pressed.

This results in each of my games being a unique functional art piece, even though the overall pattern of a game may be repeated as one of the standard game patterns available in my web site.
