    Removing The Mixer Valve

    • 1). Unplug the washing machine from the electrical outlet and turn off the wall spigots to cut off the water supply. Turn the spigot handle clockwise to shut off the water.

    • 2). Pull the washer away from the wall to give yourself enough room to work behind the washer. Place a bucket under the hoses where they connect to the mixing valve at the rear of the washer. Turn the hose connections counterclockwise and remove the hoses from the washer. Put the hose ends in the bucket to let any residual water drain into the bucket.

    • 3). Disconnect the front of the control console from the washer top panel. A screw may be on each end of the console; remove them with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Some control consoles secure using retaining clips. Slide a putty knife between the end of the control console and the top of the washer on both ends of the console to release the retaining clips.

    • 4). Raise the front of the control console up and back to let the control console rest on the rear service hinges. Disconnect the wire connector on the top rear of the washer that connects to the door switch connector. The connector will pull apart by hand.

    • 5). Place the end of a flat-head screwdriver into the large clips on the top of the washer. Pry the clips loose by pushing back on the screwdriver handle. Grab the washer cabinet by the sides and move the cabinet away from the rear panel.

    • 6). Remove the two screws securing the mixing valve to back of the washer with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Place a small piece of masking tape around each of the four wires connecting to the mixing valve. Label each piece of tape with the valve location for each wire. Pull the wires by the metal leads and remove them from the mixing valve.

    • 7). Place the jaws of a pair of pliers around the tabs of the compression clamp securing the inner hose to the mixing valve. Press the tabs together with the pliers and pull the hose off the mixing valve. Pull the mixing valve out of the rear panel.

    Install New Mixer Valve

    • 1). Place the water mixer into the rear panel and secure the mixer with the two retaining screws. Place the inner hose over the mixer port and secure the hose with the compression clamp. Push the wire leads over the respective terminals on the mixer valve according to the wire locations on the tape. Remove the tape from the wires as you install the wires.

    • 2). Position the washer cabinet over the base of the washer and against the rear panel. Secure the cabinet to the rear panel with the brass clips. Reconnect the wiring harness to the door switch connector.

    • 3). Lower the control console and either press down until the retaining clips engage or secure the control console with the retaining screws.

    • 4). Wrap plumber's tape around the two inlet ports on the mixer valve. Attach the water supply hoses to the mixing valve ports and hand tighten. Remember to place the hot water supply on the port with an "H" and the cold water supply on the port with a "C." Tighten the hose connections a half turn with a pair of pliers.

    • 5). Turn on the water supply and check the hose connections for leaks. Tighten as necessary and push the washer back toward the rear wall. Plug the washer power cord back into the wall outlet.
