Rock N' Bowl:
4133 S. Carrollton Ave. This bowling alley turned music venue is one of the most popular places in town. You can still bowl, or you can listen to the Radiators or Kermit Ruffins, take dance lessons, hear Zydeco, and drink to your heart's content.
d.b.a.:
d.b.a has locations in New York City and New Orleans. Here,at 618 Frenchmen St. (504.942.3731) A huge selection of beer, bourbon, and scotch top the drink list here. Music is also on tap every night, with performers like Ingrid Lucia and Walther "Wolfman" Washington.
Republic:
The Republic is an upscale, hip venue for lounge acts and cocktails Sip dessert drinks such as the Chocolate Truffle Sintini or Sazerac de Antoine while enjoying such events as "Models and Bottles" or listening to Big Sam's Funky Nation.
Shiloh:
Shiloh, at 4529 Tchoupitoulas has dancehall reggae on Thursdays, hip hop on Fridays, and some groove and jazz and funk on Saturdays.
Whiskey Blue:
333 Poydras. (504)207-5016 Whiskey Blue is a hangout for the cool and trendy, at the W Hotel. Dimly lit and decorated with photos of jazz greats and a queen sized bed at the bar, it is a martini destination.
Loa:
At the International House Hotel, 221 Camp, this is an urbane and glamourous martini bar of a different breed. There's a real voodoo altar, and there is only candlelight here, with lots of fresh flowers ssand great bartenders.
Tipitina's:
501 Napoleon Avenue. Tipitina's is The Place for clubbing New Orleans style, and was voted Best Music Club by Offbeat Magazine Readers. Besides drinks, Tip's does have a menu. Professor Longhair made it famous, and performers from Fats Domino to Trombone Shorty have and do appear here. It's a don't miss.
The Dungeon:
738 Toulouse. (504)523-5530. This gothic club opens at midnight and closes at sunrise. It is difficult to find and you have to go up staircases to find it. The decor is a little scary and, it's reportedly haunted, but those who love it, love it.
House of Blues:
225 Decatur St. The restuarant and bar feature New Orleans' style food, and the concerts here feature a wide variety of acts, from Johnny Lang to Better Than Ezra to Dr. John. It's always a lot of fun.
