A strong set of pecs is the hallmark of strength, and adds aesthetic appeal.
A well develop chest is great for those days on the beach where you can remove your shirt without being considered a show off.
So what exactly is the best method to build chest muscle fast? The most effective strategy involves a variety of routines, and rep ranges.
Sticking to the same workout almost guarantees that you will hit a plateau.
Plateaus are the enemy of muscle gains.
So switch routines often by trying the following routine.
You have no business in bodybuilding if you never heard of the bench press.
The bench press has always been the ultimate strength tester.
Gym rats are always asking their fellow gym heads, "How much do you bench?" However, don't be fooled by its simplicity; the bench press remains one the best exercises to build chest muscle fast.
This is common knowledge, but it's worth repeating: always use a spotter! Ignore this golden rule, and you might end up having paramedics pull the bar out of your flattened chest.
Alternate rep ranges between workouts.
Go heavy on one day with 6-8 reps.
Alternate this with 10-12 reps on the next workout.
All sets should be taken to the point of muscle failure.
Once you have completed this cycle, repeat it using a wide grip.
Bench pressing with your arms wider than shoulder width places more emphasis on the chest, and less on the triceps.
As a substitute, you could forgo the wide grip bench press, and use a completely different chest exercise.
Flys are a good alternative.
These can be done on a machine, or with dumbbells, and works the chest almost exclusively without secondary muscles coming into play.
Once you have gone through a cycle of bench press, and the wide grip bench, or the flyes, then it's time to change it even further.
This time you're going to ditch the weights completely, and do some good old pushups.
Though pushups mimic the same movement as the bench press, they give you a completely different feel, and that's what it is all about: switching things up.
A good combination of weights and body weight exercises will effectively target different points of your chest muscle.
