Support Job Creation And Vote In The Upcoming General Elections In Ontario
Make Your Vote Count in the Upcoming General Election in Ontario
IUPAT encourages you to make your voice heard in the upcoming Ontario Provincial election being held on October 6, 2011. As a prominent trade union in Ontario, it is IUPAT's responsibility to lead and inform our members of all of the issues and stances of each political party so they can make positive voting decisions that best serve them and their families for years to come. It is our duty to support political stances that will encourage and promote solidarity and keep our union thriving for our members now and in the future. This year however, Ontarios Provincial election may yield an outcome that could be detrimental to working people in our union and across the province. Current campaign platforms could have a truly negative effect on the solidarity of our union so we urge you do your part and vote. You CAN make a difference!
The current conservative platform which is being presented for the 2011 Ontario Provincial election does not enhance nor recognize our members and our plight for fairness, equality and solidarity. Right now, conservative representatives are vowing to change labour legislation to make it not only difficult to organize, but also to remove the clean energy commitment thereby eliminating jobs. Furthermore, if Bill 118 for mandatory WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) in construction is repealed, there will be a huge negative impact on the underground economy. Further, the Conservatives intend to remove the Human Rights Tribunal and kill the clean energy plan. Additionally, they plan to spend the same tax dollars that the Liberals intend to spend for health care.
The Liberal party provides a plan that will benefit our many union members. Although each party should be scrutinized, the Liberals plan is slated to have a positive impact on IUPAT union members including job creation in the energy sector and maintenance of balance in the workplace. Moreover, officials will demand mandatory WSIB on all construction employers as well as endorse an all trades requirement for compulsory certification. And, they have given our members the ability to utilize stilts in the residential workplace.
We at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades wish to help you make informed and very important decision in order to vote for a government that will work with us and not against our workers.
Our members will get one vote. Cast a ballot that will leave you with a good feeling, for you, your family and your futures.
