Section 6 Criminal Justice Act
- The Criminal Justice Act was written in an effort to set regulations regarding the way criminal justice employees, including police, treat offenders. This act also established laws pertaining to civil proceedings.
- Section 6 of the Criminal Justice Act was written to establish laws regarding the "use of telephones for review of police detention." This section was written to amend former laws of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act of 1984.
- This section of the Criminal Justice Act makes it legal for officers to conduct discussions by telephone from the detention center where the offender is in custody. This section does not apply if the telephone conversation is one that is regulated to be performed only by video-conferencing facilities.
