The Differences Between Spring and Memory Foam Mattresses

103 31
Buying a memory foam mattress is sure to be a big change from what you are used to.
Spring mattresses and memory foam mattresses work compete differently, so they feel different, as well.
Some people say the second they sit on a foam mattress they are sold; others take a few days to adjust.
So what are the differences?? A spring mattress can refer to an inner spring, pocket spring or coil spring mattress.
Though they have very different names, the three types work similarly.
There is the "spring zone," where the springs are, covered with a layer of comfortable cotton (or other material) to protect you from the metal supports underneath.
Though cotton is the most common material for the top layer, it can also be made of wool, latex, down or even foam.
Over time, the top layer may form lumps, and eventually degrade, leaving those coils precariously closer to your skin as you rest.
As to how many springs and how they are set up, that depends on the price of the mattress.
There are four types of springs used, though the difference in comfort comes not from spring type but how many are used (generally between 2 and 500).
The amount of turns in each spring decides how durable it is.
A memory foam mattress has no springs at all.
This mattress is made from open cells.
There are billions on each mattress, and air is dissipated into other parts of the mattress when you sit or lay on it.
What this means is that the pressure points that got poked and prodded by springs in your old mattress contour to your body, releasing air below and relieving pressure points as you lie.
The melting feeling you get when you lay into a memory foam mattress is what many say sets it apart in comfort.
