Rock Concert Etiquette
- The tickets for the concert are the most important factor. If you ask someone to attend a concert with you, the proper etiquette is to purchase her ticket if you can afford it. If you can't afford it, suggest you "go together" and openly discuss the ticket price. It is of utmost importance that you remember to bring the tickets with you. Sometimes, you will be issued printable tickets; other times, you can pick them up at the show, or you will have physical tickets. Do not forget them.
- If you'll be driving to the concert, offer to pick your date up. If you won't be driving, you can still offer to pick her up on foot if you're walking or to pick her up in a taxi. This saves you the trouble of finding each other once you arrive and also creates an intimate sense of attending together.
- If you can afford it, offer to buy your date a drink at the concert. At most rock concerts, drinks are overpriced. What is often cheap beer at your local liquor store might sell for $5 or $6 at a concert. Alternatively, if your date offers to buy you a drink, accept graciously and say "thanks."
- Think of your date when choosing a place to sit or stand. Many rock concerts are standing room only, and if your date is very short, she may not be able to see over the heads of other people. If she is shorter than you, allow her to stand in front of you or politely attempt to move forward far enough so she can see.
- Offer to hold your date's coat, jacket, drink or purse while she takes a break to use the bathroom or to get another drink. These simple gestures make the concert more of a date experience because they are thoughtful and show your genuine interest in your date being comfortable and enjoying herself.
- Ask your date whether she is hungry or would like to have a drink after the concert. There may be a place within walking distance where you can re-live the experience and share your thoughts about the concert. This can be a lovely way to end the evening. After drinks or a meal, be sure your date gets home safely, whether this means securing her a taxi, dropping her off (if you haven't been drinking) or walking her home.
