Wine Bottle Gift Bag Instructions
- 1). Measure a rectangle on the interfacing 18-1/2 inches by 6-3/4 inches. Use scissors to cut out the rectangle. This will be your pattern for the gift bag.
- 2). Label one of the 6-3/4-inch sides on the pattern as "Fold/Bottom." Label the opposite side "Top."
- 3). Fold the fabric so the right sides are together. The selvage edges should meet.
- 4). Place the pattern on the fabric. Line up the fold of the fabric to the fold on the pattern.
- 5). Double hem the top using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. To make a double hem, fold the fabric over 1/2-inch twice. Fold the fabric toward the inside of the fabric. You can use the straight pins to hold the hem in place.
- 6). Turn the fabric wrong side out. Sew the hem using a topstitch. Start the sewing about 3/8-inch from the edge.
- 7). Sew a 1/2-inch seam along the 18-1/2 inch sides.
- 8). Turn the fabric right side out. Then, iron the seams so they are flat.
- 9). Turn the gift bag inside out. Set the bag on your workspace. Adjust the fabric so that one of the side seams is on top and centered.

Pull the fabric from the bottom of the bag out and lay it flat. The two corners will form two triangles. Measure one inch from the point of the triangles on both corners. Use sewing chalk to mark the line across the fabric. Sew across this line. Trim the excess. - 11
Turn the bag inside out. - 12
Place the wine inside of the bag. Cut about 6 inches of ribbon and tie the bag closed around the bottom of the neck of the bottle.
