How to Add Music to Another Computer That Is in Your iTunes Purchase History
- 1). Find your purchases. You can only download a purchased item once, but you can share that item between five computers. If you have everything you've ever downloaded stored on your device, you can use the device to transfer files using sync. The catch is that you can only have your device synced with one of your authorized computers. If you'd downloaded content on different machines, that's okay. All of your iTunes purchased content is stored in the same folder on any Windows computer: "My Documents\My Music\iTunes" for computer running Windows XP or simply in "My Music\iTunes" for Windows Vista or Windows 7 users.
- 2). Connect your Apple device to the old computer or whichever computer you use most frequently and sync with. iTunes opens automatically when you connect the device. If prompted to sync the iPod, do so. Otherwise, you'll need to manually sync your content. Click on your device in the left-hand pane and then click the "Sync" button in the bottom right of the screen. How you sync depends on the type of purchases you've made. If you've paid for apps and videos in addition to music, you'll have to sync each type of media separately. When the sync completes, eject your device.
- 3). Make sure that the newest version of iTunes is installed on the computer you wish to transfer your purchases to and then connect your Apple device to this PC. When iTunes launches on this machine, you'll see a notice telling you that the device is synced with another computer. Click "Transfer purchases" to copy all of those paid-for downloads to this computer. If this computer is unauthorized with iTunes store, you will be prompted to enter your Apple ID and password. The purchases will remain on your device until you wish to delete them.
