How to Do the Impossible in a Possible Way

103 10
Some people have an aversion to advertisements or commercials, or feel that there is an appearance of influence on their blogs, or think that advertisements on blogs are a distraction or ugly, or other non-productive characteristics.
I can certainly empathize with these beliefs.
However, I do not have any intrinsic aversion to ads.
I have my own personal blog and, in fact, I have written a few posts (to be made into annual posts) about television commercials so I look forward to watching commercials.
I am also considering writing a post about print ads, as well.
I do not understand the "influence" an ad can make on a blogger.
The AdSense ads at my blog change frequently, so I can not be beholden to that company.
I believe Amazon Affiliate ads are the same way.
My blog's appearance is that of being extremely minimalist, so I actually welcome ads to my blog to add color and interest to it.
However, some bloggers still do not want advertisements but still want to earn money.
This article is for those who want to monetize a blog without ads.
Writing in my blog, I often tell readers of various options (for myself and for them).
I have seen these ideas in other formats, so I believe that these are the best-of-the-best.
1.
Sell knowledge A blog is nothing but knowledge.
However, if you required web surfers to pay a fee to read your website then you would probably get zero readers.
Bloggers do nothing (or virtually nothing) other than writing.
Many writers write books.
If you have written a book, especially if it relates to your blog, then you can sell it via your blog.
However, if you blog about cars and write a cookbook then you may not get many buyers.
Moreover, your blog should be a blog, not merely a website created to promote your book.
2.
Sell service I consider myself to be knowledgeable, astute and eloquent in many things.
At my blog, I wrote a post in which I offered to tutor children, to do homework help or research, or to write essays or term papers.
I even offered to write a screenplay.
I have never done so before but felt that I could do a credible job with a patient and understanding employer.
3.
Ask for donations Stefan Molyneux, whom I greatly admire, does this and is what I asked for in a blog post.
I did not have the mechanism in place (such as a PayPal icon), but it is worth exploring.
In short, people are willing to pay for value.
Make sure that your blog provides that, and you can monetize your blog without ads.
