Start a Tropical Freshwater Fish Aquarium by Planting the Fish Tank Plants Correctly

103 30
Starting a tropical freshwater fish aquarium is just great in many ways.
It's interesting, rewarding, relaxing and calming even though it demands maintenance which, I might add is part of all the fun.
Why do some folks' fish tank plants tend to die off after a month or so though? Hey folks you probably ain't planting those plants correctly to start with.
Listen, if you're using quite large substrate (you know, that gravel substance which you should have at the bottom of the tank) then that means the plants don't have much hope of rooting properly so they've got no chance.
Use a more compact substrate like beach gravel which allows the plants to take root and if the substrate is low calcium then all the better.
Plus you can use iron rich clay with your substrate, again allowing the plants a firm footing and it will help to keep that algae at bay.
Don't worry, you'll get the hang of all this.
It's like everything else in the beginning - it all sounds very strange, but it isn't, honestly.
Before you plant anything, check out the selection you have first.
There's the Java Fern which is very popular, the Vallisneria Spiralis and the Hygrophillia Polsperma to name only three out of the huge range out there.
These three plants all look great in the aquarium if planted correctly of course.
But do check out the others available and don't forget to check if they are compatible with the fish you're going to keep.
Remember that some fish like to hide in the plants while others like to eat them! So when you start a freshwater fish aquarium plant those fish tank plants correctly if you want them to last longer than a month and then you should have a good, happy environment for your fishy friends.
