Is There Escape From Economic Armageddon?

103 26
What in the World is Going On? Every time you turn on the television or radio or pick up a newspaper you are bombarded with news of the rotten state of the economy.
It really doesn't matter what country you read about, the news is not good.
How on earth did we ever get to this place where there seems to be no refuge to which people can go to escape the economic devastation? How can the entire world be in the same recession at the same time? Our world is on the brink of economic collapse or, worse yet, economic Armageddon.
Economic Armageddon Rarely Occurs Suddenly This economic black hole we are being sucked into is not the result of one act by either government or business.
Unfortunately, the politicians and business leaders get on T.
V.
and point fingers at each other when both are to blame.
Government actions since the 1930's have played a large role to be sure, but even worse is the compound effect of all those bad decisions.
You might ask, "What kind of decisions?" One of the biggest bad decisions was actually two decisions, one made by President Roosevelt and one made by Richard Nixon.
These two Presidents decided, 40 years apart, to remove the United States from the gold standard.
Roosevelt went half-way, Nixon finished the job.
Our dollar was no longer intrinsically valuable, that is, it was not valuable for what it represented; it was now valuable only for the value others believed it was worth.
In today's world one of the problems is that no one thinks the dollar is worth much.
The second problem is that, in our compassion to make sure that everyone's needs are met we just borrow money to write checks to people who do not work.
Corporations and governments alike made promises to people without looking beyond today to see what might happen in 10 or 20 or even 100 years.
These payments to people are called "legacy costs" because they are payments to people who were productive at one time but who no longer contribute to the gross domestic product (or GDP as you might hear it called) or to the revenues of the corporation for whom they used to work.
The Situation is Fixable But Not Without Pain There were many bad decisions, more than just the few I mentioned, but these are the biggest and worst decisions made.
So what is the answer? Number one, the bad effects of these decisions will not be fixed overnight even if the politicians and business leaders have to guts to fix them.
The will of our leaders to fix them is even in question because there will be economic pain involved but, sadly our leaders do not want to risk losing their power and status by inflicting that pain.
Yeah, the whole problem could have been avoided; so stop blaming the people on both sides of the political fence who made the bad decisions and fix them.
It's time for politicians to be adults instead of trying to be Homecoming King or Prom Queen.
You Need To Take Care of Yourself For today, for tomorrow and for your comfortable future you need to protect yourself from economic calamity.
You are the leader you have been praying for; although you can do very little to solve the macro economic problems you have the power to change the micro economic problems.
I mentioned earlier that the United States, as most countries have done, has taken its currency off the gold standard; this is important when preparing yourself for any economic collapse which may occur.
When currencies become worthless buying and selling transactions take place in only two ways, barter (you have what I need and I have what you need so we trade) or precious metals which have intrinsic value.
You remember the old "golden rule" joke, "He who has the gold makes the rules"; in times of economic Armageddon it is not a joke.
The time to prepare is now, even a small amount of gold or silver will put you miles ahead of those who choose to follow the leader rather than being the leader.
Escape from Armageddon Is Possible Escape is possible but only if you take steps now to provide a medium of exchange which will be acceptable even when your currency becomes worthless.
