How to Induce a Dog to Vomit
- 1). Call your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic to make sure that it is okay to induce vomiting.
- 2
Feed your dog blackened toast. The toast will absorb poison and neutralize toxins. It's also easier for your dog to vomit with food in his stomach. Wait 5 minutes. - 3). Pour the 3 percent hydrogen peroxide into the bowl. Using the syringe, draw up 3 cc of hydrogen peroxide per every 20 lb. of your dog's body weight.
- 4). Open your dog's mouth slightly and insert the syringe. Steadily squirt the hydrogen peroxide toward the back of your dog's mouth, forcing him to swallow the liquid. Wait 10 minutes.
- 5
If vomiting has not occurred after 10 minutes, give another dose of hydrogen peroxide. Wait 10 minutes. If vomiting has still not occurred, call your veterinarian. - 6). Take your dog to your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic as soon as possible, since vomiting will remove only 40 to 60 percent of the toxin. Your dog may need additional, professional medical treatment.
