103 9
Do you need to take control in your relationship? How does it feel to have someone governing all the decisions in your life? Do you need to fix an unbalanced relationship? An overbearing, controlling partner can wreak havoc on your thoughts.
Keep reading so that you can learn what to do to take control of your relationship and your life.
Your first step is to take charge of your own time.
Limit his accessibility to you as much of his control is the result of always being present in everything you do.
His power over you increases as you allow him open access to all parts of your life.
Stand up and plan some away time for yourself.
This is good for two reasons.
First, you can have some enjoyment that belongs only to you, and second, you can evaluate your true feelings for him.
Your second step is to reclaim some responsibility and control.
A domineering man often drives his partner into submissiveness, usually because of efforts aimed at keeping the peace.
If this is you, now is the time to hold your ground and start making some of the decisions in your relationship.
Every time you say "Whatever you want to do," you are increasing his controlling grasp on you.
If you want to take control of your relationship, start by deciding that you will never say that statement again.
Third, establish some boundaries.
In all relationships you will find that the individual partners have different strengths and weaknesses.
Develop some limits of responsibility so that you each have a share in choices and decision-making, keeping in mind each other's strong points.
There's a good chance that you have given him way too much control and you need to firmly remind him of allowing input from both sides.
Finally, learn to say the word "no".
The only true way to be in charge of your life is to stand up and simply say "no" at times.
You need to come back to the realization that you are quite capable of making intelligent decisions and fully expect others to respect them.
Fixing a controlling relationship can be very difficult; but, if you need to take control of your relationship, these are the steps to do it.
Just remember that it takes time and determination, but you can do it.
