The first step toward cheaper auto insurance is making sure you do your research. What kind of coverage do you need? For some it will just be liability. This will be the cheapest option, but keep in mind it is meant to cover the other person and their vehicle in an accident, not your own. If you car is not new or not worth replacing should an accident occur, you may want to consider liability, if it is a valid option in your state. Obtain at least three or four quotes. If you are getting full coverage, then seek the best rate, but don't sacrifice quality.

If you are currently insured contact your auto insurance carrier to see how they may be able reduce your current premium.
