    • 1). Open the hood of your F-150 and locate the fuel line. On the line will be what is known as a "Schrader valve." It will look very much like a standard tire valve, and the center stem needs to be depressed to release the pressure from the fuel lines. This can be done with a small screwdriver, either a flat blade of a Phillips will work. Once the valve has been pushed to allow the pressure to release, you can continue on to Step 2.

    • 2). Locate the fuel filter which be be under the drivers side frame rail near the front of the fuel tank.

    • 3). Remove the safety clasp on one side of the fuel line by squeezing the sides and pulling it off. Although new fuel filters come with safety clasps, the old ones can be re-used if desired.

    • 4). Push the separator tool onto the male end of the fuel filter and slide it up and into the female end. This will release the connector from the fuel line, and the line can be pulled off and away. Expect some leakage from the filter, but this can be halted by removing the end sealing caps from the new filter and pushing one onto the old one.

    • 5). Repeat that procedure with the other side of the fuel filter, and once disconnected, pull it out and away.

    • 6). Push the new fuel filter into the exact same place as the old one, while connecting it up to the fuel lines by pushing on the connectors. The connectors will literally snap into place when pushed on firmly.
