    Duties

    • An Army Special Forces Medic's job includes many duties. They are responsible for the health care of everyone in their battalion, and still must fight the same as other soldiers who are trained to defend against dangerous forces. Their medical supplies have to be maintained and accounted for at all times, including those moments when they are on the move. Medics have to be able to perform medical procedures on the run and also protect their peers with their gun.

    Requirements

    • Before anyone can become a Special Forces medic they have to go through an assessment program to ensure that they can meet all of the requirements. They have to have strength, endurance, psychological stability, good vision and excellent overall health. All these qualities are necessary to help them get through some of the situations that a specialized soldier would have to experience.

    Training

    • The training that a Special Forces medic goes through is diverse. As a medical professional, they have to learn to care for the wounded and be skilled at minor surgeries and other procedures. However, they also will train to become highly skilled soldiers who can jump from planes and shoot as a sniper would. These soldiers have the ability to handle a scalpel like the most skilled surgeon and detonate a bomb like the best weapons specialist. They also must be highly trained swimmers and survival experts.

    Special Skills

    • Medics have the best training that is offered, but also draw a lot of what they do from qualities that come naturally to them. Being able to talk to people, negotiate, stay calm in stressful situations and work well with a team are good attributes for any soldier.

    Additional Training

    • The roles of an Army Special Forces Medic will vary depending on how much additional training they choose to have. After finishing their first training, they can go on and become an officer. It is up to the medic regarding how much time and effort he is willing to devote to reach the goal.
