103 249
Poker is a highly competitive card game.
Most games played are in good sport or for the fun of it.
But sometimes especially in the case of very good players tournaments are held to pit the best poker players against each other.
The most common form of poker tournament is known as a knock-out, freeze-out or a sit and go.
In this sort of a tournament the table starts off with 10 to 12 players.
In tournaments where there are many players that are taking part multiple numbers of tables are set up and each table start off with 10 to 12 players.
The number of players is kept standard at each table.
Before the games begin and before the places are assigned the players must 'Buy In' which means that they must buy their stack of chips in exchange for that value of money.
Each player is given equal number of chips which means each player starts off with the same amount.
Once this is done the tournament is ready to begin.
Each tournament offers a specific game that must be played, for example Texas Hold 'Em, Five Card Draw, Omaha, Razz, Stud, etc.
or can offer a mix of these games.
This is dependent on the organizers.
Once the game begins the players are to make their bets and play as usual.
The main motive of the game is to make sure that you do not lose all you chips.
Once a player loses all the chips he or she is eliminated from the game.
The elimination continues until there is only one player left at the table.
As the table shrinks players from other tables are used to fill up the spaces.
Sometimes an entire table is closed and all the players are moved around.
The game continues and the players losing their chips are steadily eliminated.
The winner of the tournament is the one left standing and holding all the chips used in the tournament.
The Sit and Go tournament is a specific type of poker tournament.
This means that the competition begins at a scheduled time.
All the players wanting to take part in it must complete their buy-ins before the competition begins.
Many tournaments allow for re-buys which is when the player who has lost all his chips buys more to remain in the game.
The organizers can set conditions on the re-buys if they want to allow them.
The usual conditions are that the re-buy are only offered to players who are very low on chips or if they have lost all their chips.
Some organizers allow for add-ons which allow a player to buy more chips even if he is doing well in the competition.
The winner of the competition usually receives all the money from the buy-ins before the game was started.
This means that all the chips that he has won can be exchanged for the real money.
Some competitions give prizes to the last two players left on the table.
