It certainly is a widespread problem.
Although there is medicine available to help alleviate the pain, the only true way to really combat acid reflux in a longterm manner is by changing your lifestyle.
This includes avoiding a few foods that will really agitate your body.
First lets discuss the food activities with the most benefit: 1.
High-fiber foods.
This includes vegetables and fruits that are high in fiber, as well as things like whole grains.
2.
Less fatty foods.
The removal of fatty foods will benefit you as fatty foods take much longer to digest.
3.
Fish and fish oil.
Fish contain omega-3, a natural combatant of acid reflux.
Forbidden foods (or foods to eat in lower quantities) 1.
Caffeine.
This causes problems.
You will want to watch your intake of things like chocolate, coffee, etc.
2.
Fatty foods.
Since they take longer to digest, they tend to aggrevate the condition.
3.
Fried foods.
Stay away from these, they cause trouble! You will also benefit from taking care to eat less in a sitting.
Break your meals up into smaller portions.
This will prevent your body from getting overwhelmed and give it a chance to properly digest what you eat.
Do not eat food late at night.
Especially if you are going to be laying down.
Laying down after eating can really aggravate acid reflux.
Just remember that taking medicine to treat acid reflux will only provide you with a temporary cure.
Permanent relief can only occur when you make a positive change in your diet and lifestyle.
