How to Remove Wallpaper on Stucco Finish
- 1). Purchase a wallpaper scoring tool at a home improvement store. A scoring tool is a handheld tool with a spiked wheel on the end. The spikes are sharp enough and deep enough to score through the wallpaper, but not so large or long that they will do a lot of damage to the stucco. Scoring is necessary or the adhesive remover cannot reach the back of the wallpaper to loosen the wallpaper from the wall.
- 2). Score the wallpaper with the scoring tool. Make scoring marks in a pattern horizontally and vertically about one inch apart, covering the entire wall of paper.
- 3). Spray the wallpaper with adhesive remover and allow the remover to sit based on the manufacturer's recommended time.
- 4). Lift a corner of the wallpaper and pull gently to remove the wallpaper from the stucco.
- 5). Continue the lift and remove process for the entire wall. If a section of wallpaper is still firmly attached to the stucco, then score it again and apply more adhesive remover.
