How to Check a Criminal's Background
- 1). Enter the information you have -- usually, a person's name, and sometimes state -- into an online criminal records database program, such as IntegraScan.com, Intelius.com, or IdentityPI.com. This will probably cost between $30 and $50, and will turn up records and details of criminal involvement.
- 2). Review the information that has been generated. Determine if any of it is relevant, and decide whether or not it satisfies your questions or suspicions.
- 3). Query court system websites and county records websites. If you have at least a general idea of the where the criminal you are searching for committed his or her crimes, try a searching in databases unique to those locales. If you don't have success at first, try different variations of a name, such as nicknames, or middle initials, if you know them.
- 4). Purchase a professional-grade criminal background check program. These programs can be costly, but they typically provide access to up-to-the-minute police information, and can often provide significantly more detail than less expensive online searches.
