    • 1). Close the door on the KitchenAid to complete any wash cycle in progress. This empties water from the appliance so you can complete the repair.

    • 2). Open the KitchenAid and empty the racks of all dishes. Leave the bottom rack extended outside the appliance so you can access the heating element.

    • 3). Cut off the electricity to the dishwasher at the circuit breaker.

    • 4). Remove the screws that hold the kick plate to the bottom of the dishwasher. Pull off the plate and set aside. Save the screws.

    • 5). Pull the two metal clips off the bottom of the heating element probes where the probes enter through the bottom of the KitchenAid on the right side near the front of the appliance. Pull the clip only, not the wire that connects to the internal wiring harness. Make a note of which wire connects to which probe.

    • 6). Unscrew and remove the nuts holding the heating element securely to the underside of the KitchenAid.

    • 7). Pull up the heating element from inside the KitchenAid and remove.

    • 8). Insert the two probes on the end of the new element into the two holes on the inside bottom of the KitchenAid and press down to seat the element.

    • 9). Twist on and tighten the two nuts to the threaded probes where they extend below the KitchenAid behind the kick plate you removed earlier.

    • 10

Reattach the wires to the two probes, sliding the correct metal clip onto each probe.

    • 11

Secure the kick plate with screws to the front of the KitchenAid.

    • 12

Turn on the electricity at the circuit breaker.
