Do You Really Want To Buy A Sports Vehicle?
According to some of my friends, I drive a sports car, simply because it has two doors and looks stylish.
If you were to ask your friends what they believe defines a sports vehicle, you'd probably get numerous different answers.
Some define a sports vehicle as a car with only two doors, some define them as a car that reaches a certain speed and many, just like me, define a sports car as a car with a higher than normal performance ability.
This basically means that a sports car is faster, handles better, has more horsepower, looks sporty, is lighter and is more likely made by Ferrari or Porsche.
So I went on the internet to resolve this uncertainty once and for all.
I basically were left with the same scenario: several different definitions.
But what mattered more to me, is that insurance companies tend to also define a sports car differently.
I started requesting some car quotes from different insurance companies to see if I could work out how exactly they determine whether your car is a sports car or not, and I made the following conclusions: Car insurance companies group certain cars into certain categories.
These groups range from one through to twenty; group one being the least expensive type of car to insure and group twenty being the costliest.
So, should you look for car quotes, your automobile would be grouped into one of these categories, and your premium will be worked out according to that and numerous other factors.
A Fiat Panda, for instance, is a group one category car: the insurance premium on this vehicle or similar will be minimal.
Buying a sports vehicle, whatever that is, will get you grouped in category 15, and buying a performance sports vehicle, like a Ferrari or Porsche, will undeniably place you in group twenty.
With an increase in risk comes an increase in insurance premium.
If you are a male, driving a sports car and younger than twenty five, you will probably have to pay one of the highest premium rates available on your insurance.
Driving a sports vehicle alone is considered to be a greater risk than driving a normal car.
Pairing that with the high risk of being a young male driver spikes your premium rate up considerably.
If you are bound to these traits and are searching for another insurance plan, you can always request online car insurance quotes.
All you have to do is log onto an insurance website; search for car quotes, and voila! Now you can go through the options offered by the site and choose! Theft and crashes are also considered a reason for the insurance premium being excessive on sports cars.
Sports cars apparently have among the highest theft rates of all cars, thus increasing the risk.
Injuries and fatalities caused by accidents made by sports cars also increase the monthly insurance premium.
So, thinking about buying a sports car? Just make sure you get an efficient amount of car quotes to compare before you settle on a premium.
Make sure to get the best deal you possibly can!
