How to Buy Children's Underwear
- 1). Buy underwear in approximately the same size that your kids wear in pants. You may want to go a size larger if you're buying cotton briefs since they may shrink in the wash. Try not to go too big, however, since the undergarments tend to ride up in back.
- 2). Opt for regular cotton briefs with wide elastic waistbands for active boys who need their clothing to move when they do. Give preference to brands that feature size and laundering information printed on the fabric rather than on paper type tags if your kids complain about itching. (See Resources below.)
- 3). Consider boxers for your sons if they prefer not to have underwear with binding around their legs. You'll need to be even more precise on the sizing of boxers so the excess fabric doesn't bunch up inside their pant legs.
- 4). Experiment with different cuts such as briefs or bikinis for girls until you find the style that fits them best. Look for versions with plain waistbands and leg openings rather than those with lace around the edges if your daughter is sensitive to itchy textures.
- 5). Find styles featuring your child's favorite cartoon characters and colors. If they frequently wear light-colored pants, however, steer clear of dark colors and bold patterns that will show through the fabric.
