How To Ease Acid Reflux

103 211
Acid Reflux symptoms can be very uncomfortable and can cause serious side effects in the long-term if left untreated.
Finding out how to ease acid reflux symptoms can be very difficult.
The first port of call should always be to keep a food diary, this way the sufferer will find it easier as they try to pinpoint what part of their diet is causing problems.
If there is no link between symptoms and the food that is being consumed then it may not be dietary related.
Changing Diet There are certain foods that are known for causing acid reflux, these are: tomatoes, radishes, garlic, spicy food, sugar, oil and peppers.
Beverages such as: alcohol, fizzy soft drinks, tea and coffee can also cause problems.
By drastically decreasing the intake of these, symptoms may be relieved.
The next step would be to slowly add each element back into the diet until symptoms re-occur; then the cause will be known.
By replacing problematic food and drink with healthier alternatives the body will also find it easier to work properly and fight against excess stomach acid build-ups, which is what causes most of the symptoms.
Lifestyle Changes If acid reflux isn't dietary related then there are other lifestyle changes that can be made to ease symptoms.
The most common methods include: Avoiding smoking.
Eating in an upright position.
Taking a short walk after consuming a meal.
Not lying in bed after eating for at least two hours.
Chewing food slowly to ensure proper digestion.
There are many other home remedies that have been known to work.
Drinking peppermint tea will allow the gases in the stomach to settle; drinking water will eliminate body toxins and will naturally expel excess stomach acid; chewing on fresh ginger will also relieve symptoms short-term.
Regular exercise is also a very important step.
Exercise is often recommended to ensure that the body is "working properly.
" It will also allow the sufferer to get into a better sleeping pattern and will ensure that they get an adequate amount of rest, which is exactly what the body needs in order to heal itself.
Medication Or Natural Remedies? There is nothing wrong with using medication to relieve symptoms and make them more bearable.
Medication is however a short-term solution to the problem and will not cure the disease.
A sufferer that is serious about curing symptoms will almost always have to make lifestyle changes.
It can sometimes be more beneficial to speak to a fellow sufferer or a nutritionist rather than a doctor, as they will have a clearer idea of how to eliminate symptoms through food and lifestyle changes.
