    • 1). Remove the left, or non-drive side axle nut and washer from the wheel. If your bike has a quick-release instead of an axle nut, open the release and pull it free of the wheel. Otherwise use an adjustable wrench to remove the nut and washer. Set the quick-release or nut and washer combo aside.

    • 2). Slide the included tab washer over the end of the axle so that it is flush against the bike frame.

    • 3). Fit the included couplet plate over the axle so that the pegs on the back of the couplet fit into the holes in the tab washer. The couplet plate should be vertical with the large opening at the bottom.

    • 4). Slide the quick release back through the axle and close it. If your bike did not have a quick release, thread the washer and axle nut (in that order) back on the axle, and tighten the nut and washer against the side of the couplet plate.

    • 5). Insert the end of the trailer tow bar into the large hole at the bottom of the couplet plate.

    • 6). Slide the securing pin through the opening in the couplet plate and trailer tow bar and fasten it in place.

    • 7). Loop the safety strap attached to the tow bar through the bike frame (avoid the spokes) and clip the end into the "D" ring at the end of the tow bar.
