Department of Homeland Security Gets It Right with Highway Watch Program Funding
The Department of Homeland Security has made a very wise tactical move and that is to re-enlist the hundreds of thousands of Truck Drivers in our Nation to keep a look out.
If you will recall the Truck Drivers and Highway Watch Program is credited with catching the DC Shooters at a rest stop after a string of high-profile random murders.
The increase in funding is showing that the Department of Homeland Security can protect this nation both with large projects such as the Virtual Border Fence by Boeing, as well as smaller very efficient projects like the Highway Trucker Watch Programs.
With high-tech electronic sensors for ports, surveillance tactics, net-centric government computer systems and this new Highway Watch Program it will be extremely hard for International Terrorists cells in to hide.
Remember Truck Drivers of the American Trucking Association drive 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 Days per year and they are always on the look out and they all have cell phones, CBs and communication with their dispatchers.
One call is all it takes.
The additional almost 5 million dollar project of the already 50 million dollar allotment has already shown some success on a shoe string budget and this will indeed help protect our great nation, so consider all this in 2006.
