How to Make Free Widgets
- 1). Create a Widgetbox account or login to your existing one. There is a link in the Resources section of this article.
- 2). Scroll down to the bottom of the landing page, and click the "Make a Widget" link. Click the "BLOG/FEED" button. Enter the URL of your blog or RSS/ATOM feed. Click "Continue."
- 3). Customize the content of your widget. Leave the default selection at "List," and click the "include summaries" check box so your widget displays the titles and some text from your posts. Click "include images" if you have images with every post; leave it blank if you don't.
- 4). Pick the size and color of your widget. Select the slim size for sidebars, the middle size for sites that offer larger areas, or click the third icon with the pencil to enter a custom size for your widget. Select a color for your widget. Decide on your header style, and how you want it aligned when you embed it on a webpage.
- 5). Pick your sharing options. Select "Listed in the Gallery" if you want your widget to appear on the Widgetbox website and draw more traffic to your blog. Choose "Unlisted" if you want sole access to your widget. Fill out the "Blidget Name," "Tags" and "Description" fields.
- 6). Click the "Save Blidget" button. Read the "Developer Agreement" and "Content Guidelines" and click the check box next to the links when you're done. Click "Save Blidget" again.
- 7). Click on the name of your widget to bring up your sharing options. Click the "Promote Your Widget" link. Select the appropriate icon for where you want to embed your widget. Copy the code and paste it on the site(s) you would like to promote your blog. If you're not sure which to pick, select the blue "Get Embed Code" button.
