How to Get Started With a Samsung BlackJack
- 1). Insert the battery and charge it. Remove the cover and insert the battery. It should lock into place. Charge the battery using the travel charger which you will find in the box. The light on the BlackJack will be red when charging. It will turn green when the device is fully charged.
- 2). Install a MicroSD card. It will boost your memory. You will see a small cover on the right side of the phone. Remove it and slide the narrow end of the card in. Replace the cover.
- 3). Power the device. Press and hold the "Power" button. It is on top of the phone. Take a look at the top right corner of the screen and you will see the AT&T bars. Four bars and an icon with the words 3G will indicate full signal. What looks like an empty cocktail glass and four bars will indicate good voice coverage but no data. The cocktail glass alone will indicate no service.
- 4). Navigate around a bit. The circular button on the front of the phone is the "jog wheel." It looks like a black disc. Use the buttons to the left and right of the disc for activating menus. They are the soft keys and the function they correspond to will be labeled on the screen--just above them.
- 5). Scroll to an application like Explorer and type on the keyboard. You'll see characters appear in the application.
- 6). Make a call. Select the phone screen by pressing the green "Send" button when you are on the Home screen. Enter a number using the numeric keys and press "Send" again. End the call by pressing "End."
