After Panic Attack Episodes, Rest!

103 201
Not so many people know that after panic attack episodes another one could be on its way.
That is absolutely true! Many specialists have already proven that this disorder tend to be cyclical.
Because of that precautions must be made not only during an attack, but also after it.
For you to know what the things are that one must do in order to prevent those attacks from recurring, you have to understand why they even go in circles.
We have already established the fact that this disorder is caused by anxiety and stressful events in your life.
Consequently, because an attack is a stressful event it can lead to another attack; one after another.
How do you prevent that from happening? It is quite simple to avoid really; all you have to do is to remain calm after a panic attack.
Most people, if not all, are distraught after their attack and that is something you must avoid.
There is no better way to trigger another attack than to allow yourself to be stressed out by the situation.
If you find it difficult to calm down, I suggest that you look for a place where there is constant supply of fresh air and you stay there for a few minutes.
Meditating is very helpful at this point, and it can be done by clearing your mind of negative thoughts and filling it with positive ones.
Do not think of what just happened too much because that will only stress you out.
Furthermore, you have to maintain proper breathing.
Generally, patients hyperventilate during an attack.
You have to control that as hyperventilating will only make things worse because the supply of oxygen in your brain is hampered.
To regain normal breathing you must inhale deeply through your nostrils, and exhale very slowly through your pursed lip.
That type of breathing will maximize your oxygen intake.
Should you find yourself having difficulties in achieving that goal, try to sleep after an attack.
Since what just happened to you is very exhausting, sleeping or resting will help you regain your strength.
Remember that your body will perceive any exhausting event to be stressful.
Again, you want to avoid all sources of stress after an attack.
Moreover, if you find that going to the hospital or a doctor will ease your mind, then go ahead and do it.
You should employ all things necessary to help you calm down.
It may be going to the hospital, eating a bar of chocolates or being alone somewhere peaceful; it does not really matter, what matters is that you do whatever it takes to relax.
Those are the things that you must do after panic attack episodes.
It may think that remaining calm after an attack is difficult but if you focus your mind in to doing it, it is actually achievable.
It helps that you remind yourself that although an attack is uncomfortable, it cannot harm you in a major way (except if you allow it to).
You should be the master of your disorder and not the other way around.
