MailTunes 1.0 - Signature Tool
About.com Rating
The Bottom Line
MailTunes is a smart and fun little tool that makes your email signature go dynamic — with current iTunes info, for example, or the output from shell scripts. More scripting examples would be nice, though, and if MailTunes supported more email clients, that would be terrific.
Unfortunately, MailTunes is no longer available.
Pros
- MailTunes is easy to use and offers interesting, dynamic signatures without effort
- Can insert currently-playing info from iTunes
- You can also make MailTunes use custom shell or AppleScript scripts
Cons
- MailTunes does not insert the standard signature delimiter automatically
- Does not work with all email clients and provides only one signature
- Some more MailTunes shell script examples would be nice

Guide Review - MailTunes 1.0 - Signature Tool
Like all communication, the emails we write are an expression of the mood we are in, which they influence at the same time. The same applies to music, of course, and this connection between the music you hear in iTunes and the emails you write in Mac OS X Mail (or Entourage or MailSmith) is also made by MailTunes.
Easy to set up, MailTunes updates a dynamic email signature periodically. You have MailTunes insert the song you are currently listening to, for example, and add your rating, too.
MailTunes is not confined to music, however. It can grab the output of any shell script and insert it dynamically, or you control MailTunes with AppleScript. A few scripting examples are included, but more would certainly be nice, as would be compatibility with more email clients.
Since many people send messages from different accounts with different signature needs, it can be limiting that MailTunes lacks support for multiple signatures.
