Facebook allows you to create what used to be called "Fan Pages" but now tend to be called "Like Pages".
This type of page can be used to commercial advantage but the appearance of the average like page is uninspiring because it is simply the very basic Facebook layout.
It is important that the visitor clicks the Like button so that they can be targeted in the future but unless they are particularly interested they are just as likely to go away without having done so.
The owners of Facebook, in their infinite wisdom, have made it possible to provide the first time visitor with a better experience that might just encourage them to click the Like button, thus becoming a subscriber.

If regular HTML or "hyper text mark-up language" is used the page can be distorted and unattractive, so it is important to have knowledge of FBML or "face book mark-up language".

Inevitably, free templates have been produced but they still tend to be limited because they are free.
The enthusiastic internet business owner or marketer will want more than the free template can provide, like an opt-in web form, for instance.
So, it would seem that the solution might be a paid template service priced within the comfort range of all comers.
