How to Install XP Onto an External SATA Drive
- 1). Insert your Windows XP installation CD into the appropriate computer CD drive.
- 2). Restart the computer and press any key on your keyboard when the message "Press any key to boot from CD" appears. Once the XP disk installation launches, you will see the Windows XP Software License agreement. Read through the agreement and press the "F8" button on your keyboard to continue with the installation.
- 3). Select your external SATA drive from the drop-down menu when you are prompted to choose an installation location. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to continue.
- 4). Wait for Windows to format your external SATA drive. Leave your Windows XP CD inside your computer while the process occurs. After the formatting, Windows will restart your computer and the installation process is complete.
