How to Get Stuck Batteries Out of a Flashlight
- 1). Unscrew the battery compartment lid from the back end of the flashlight. Unscrew the reflector from the flashlight. Remove the retaining ring from around the front of the flashlight. Unscrew the bulb from inside the front of the flashlight. Place the bulb aside for safety.
- 2). Place a sheet of newspaper on a table to protect the surface. Stand the flashlight on the newspaper with the front of the flashlight facing up. Grip the side of the flashlight in one hand. Grip the needle-nose pliers in the other hand.
- 3). Clamp the jaws of the needle-nose pliers on an edge of the bulb module inside of the front of the flashlight. Twist the needle-nose pliers to dislodge the bulb module from inside the flashlight. Pull the bulb module out and place it aside.
- 4). Place one end of the included plastic straw on the grease lubricant's nozzle. Insert the free end of the plastic straw into the front of the flashlight. Place the free end of the plastic straw against one side of the flashlight. Spray a three-second burst of grease lubricant. Move the end of the plastic straw to another side of the flashlight. Spray a three-second burst. Repeat this procedure an additional two times. Let the flashlight stand for two minutes.
- 5). Turn the flashlight over. Repeat the entire procedure with the plastic straw, only this time spraying inside of the battery compartment. Let the flashlight stand for two minutes.
- 6). Turn the flashlight over. Hold the flashlight off the newspaper with one hand. Place the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver into the front of the flashlight with the other hand. Push down on the top of the battery. Continue pushing until the battery beneath the one being pushed begins to exit the battery compartment at the bottom of the flashlight.
- 7). Grip the side of the battery that has exited the battery compartment at the bottom of the flashlight with pliers. Pull the battery out of the flashlight. Dispose of the battery properly.
- 8). Turn the flashlight over and hold it off the newspaper with one hand.. Place the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver into the bottom of the flashlight.
- 9). Push down on the top of the battery. Continue pushing until the battery begins to exit the flashlight. Grip the side of the battery that has exited the flashlight with the pliers. Pull the battery out of the flashlight. Dispose of the battery properly.
