Hi, my name is Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin, health and wellness expert with Ninacheriephd.com, and I'm here at the HF Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood, Illinois. In this clip I'll show you some of the best types of cardio exercise equipment for women. As a woman you can experience significant health benefits from exercise training regardless of the type of exercise equipment you select. It all comes down to your access to equipment, personal preferences and lifestyle. Cardio exercise equipment like treadmills, elliptical trainers, stair climbers and stationary cycling machines are excellent for burning calories and improving your cardiovascular fitness. These machines offer various settings, modes and pre-programmed exercise routines that allow you to constantly switch up your workouts and maximize your results without getting bored. Treadmills are very easy to use and excellent for a full body workout. The speed controls allow you to really get your heart pumping with brisk walking, jogging, running or a combination of all three. You can use the incline controls on treadmills to mimic hill climbing. This is a great way to tone and tighten your lower body, especially your glutes. Elliptical trainers are a low impact alternative to treadmills in that you can get in a full body workout without putting undue stress on your joints. You can greatly increase the intensity of your workout by adjusting the resistance on the elliptical trainer. Higher levels of resistance are great for inducing a toning effect. Most elliptical trainers allow you to adjust the cross ramp in order to target the different lower body muscle groups including your glutes, thighs and legs. Some elliptical trainers also allow for arm motions which is great for an effective full body workout. Stair climbers and stationary cycling machines are also great for burning calories as well as building up your glutes, thighs and legs. Now both of these machines require lower body musculature strength and endurance so if you are new to working out, you may not be able to use these machines for an extended period of time.
