A Clean Car Is A Happy Car - Making the Outside Shine

103 33
Everyone loves the glisten of a freshly cleaned car, but all too often, the neighborhood car wash leaves it spotty, or worse, still damp so that every piece of road dust between the car wash and your house sticks to the freshly washed exterior.
Nobody wants to waste money at the car wash just to get a spotty finish.
Below are some pro tips to help you make the outside of your car sparkle like new.
• Rinse the car thoroughly before starting a wash to remove as much debris as possible.
• Wash the car in a shady spot and make sure that you aren't washing a hot car.
With a car that's just been running or one that's been sitting in the hot sun, you will get soap suds that dry before you can rinse them away.
• When choosing a soap, choose a mild liquid instead of harsh detergents.
Your paint job will thank you • Use a car wash mitt or sponge to wash the car itself, but have a second sponge or mitt on hand for washing the tires.
Using a separate mitt will prevent scratches on the paint from the larger debris that often accumulates around tires.
• Use plenty of water when washing.
Don't worry about overdoing it here.
The more, the better.
• Start by washing the roof of the car and work your way down the car.
Rinse thoroughly after washing each section.
After the roof, wash the hood and then the rear.
Once these sections have been washed and rinsed, wash the sides of the vehicle, working your way down to the rocker panels.
By cleaning down the car, you won't dirty sections that you've previously cleaned.
• Rinse your sponge or mitt before re-soaping it with the clean, hot water.
• Save the tires for last to avoid scratching your paint with bits of debris.
• Rinse the car thoroughly when you have completed the washing.
When you think it's rinsed well, rinse it once more for good measure.
• Dry the car thoroughly with absorbent cloths immediately to prevent spotting.
• Apply wax or polish if you desire.
While washing the car may seem like a common sense activity, you may be surprised by how much you didn't know about proper washing technique for vehicles.
Using the above tips and hints, you can ensure a clean and sparkling car every time.
Forget the car wash and a spotty exterior, it's easy to get your car clean and spot-free!
