How The oprah Show Will Live On With Satellite Tv

After 25 years, Oprah Winfrey's show has finally come to a tearful end. In the last quarter-century, Oprah has become one of the true cultural touchstones in the United States and a pathbreaker for both women and African Americans all over the country. While there will no longer be any new episodes of Oprah being made, syndicated repeats of the show on satellite TV will be helping Americans fill the Oprah-sized holes in their hearts made by this superstar's departure.

Oprah Winfrey was born in a poor family in Mississippi and did not have an easy upbringing. She was raised by a single mother as well as other members of her family in both Mississippi and Milwaukee, where she was repeatedly molested. At the age of 14, Winfrey was impregnated, although she lost the child during birth. Eventually, her mother sent her to live with the man she believed to be her father in Nashville, where Winfrey seems to have straightened herself out. After winning a scholarship to a local university, Winfrey eventually became a news anchor in Nashville. Several years later, she took a broadcasting job in Chicago, where she was discovered by film critic Roger Ebert. Ebert persuaded a national production company to give Winfrey a show, and thus Oprah was born.

It is difficult to explain why Oprah was such a fixture on the American television scene for so long. Many observers attribute the success of the show to the personality of Oprah herself. To many people, she represented a new kind of woman; a product of a form of empathetic feminism that could interview celebrities, world leaders, and politicians, and tackle the most difficult issues of the day without belligerence or confrontation. Her way of looking at the world was similar to that of many people throughout so-called Middle America, who counted on old-fashioned kindness and common sense to solve problems. Perhaps another feature of Oprah's appeal is that she lived the values that she professed, unlike so many celebrities. According to some sources, she is one of the most prolific philanthropists of all time, and the residuals from her shows being broadcast on satellite TV will surely provide her with philanthropic income for years to come.

Since Oprah has been such a beloved figure, the end of her career came as a sad shock to many people. However, in the finale of her show, she demonstrated the grace and quiet charm that has made her an important figure for so long. She eschewed celebrity guests or the giveaways she had become so notorious for, and indicated that she wanted the last episode to be a simple thank-you to her fans. Luckily, fans of her program will be able to get all of the Oprah they need and want on satellite TV, even if the reruns won't have the punch of new episodes.
