Getting The Right Flatscreen TV Size For Your Home Or Flat

101 238
Bigger is always not better when it comes to buying a flatscreen TV, especially if you have a restricted space in your home and flat. So alongside making your purchase decision off of resolution, contrast and various other qualities, you really should consider what TV is the best size.

For a bedroom TV, usually 32 inches is good but at least 40 inches for a living room or a main TV. If you're replacing an older tube TV set, 40 inches may seem huge considering that big tube televisions had a max size of 36 inches. But don't worry, a television over 40 inches is a great thing and you won't want to go back to your regular tube box.

Pick a TV that is best for your money and the room it's going to be at. Usually, people complain that they didn't go big enough, however in a world with 80-inch TVs, there's such a thing of too big.

So how big is too big? Of course, your budget ultimately decides this. If you have an existing entertainment center, make sure you have an inch of side and top of the TV to allow ventilation. Find a TV that will fit that space without being too wide since all HDTVs are widescreen now.

Also consider the décor of the room. You may not want the TV to dominate the room. Another important factor is seating distance. From a picture quality perspective you can sit pretty close without losing quality of the picture. The rule of thumb is to not sit closer than 1.5 times the screen's diagonal measurement and no farther than twice the measurement of the TV. So if you have a 50-inch TV you'd sit between 75 and 100 inches from the screen. Of course, the farther you sit away from the TV the less immersive feeling you will get form the TV.

So there are a lot of things you have to consider when buying a TV. While it's nice to study the specs of the television and the various brands, it's important to understand where this TV is going to be in your home or flat. Of course, make sure to maximize your budget to get the best flatscreen TV for your needs.
