How to Remove the Starter From a 2001 Ford F-350
- 1). Lift the truck using the jack. Put jack stands below the frame and lower the jack so that the frame is supported by the stands. Pop the hood. Disconnect the negative, then positive, terminal from the battery using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.
- 2). The starter motor is on the passenger side of the engine block. Unbolt the wiring on the starter motor using the open-end wrench.
- 3). Unbolt the starter motor from the engine block with the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and sockets. Carefully lower the starter down from the block using both hands. Pull the starter away from the truck.
