Securing Your Property Whilst You Are Away On A Holiday Break

We all love to go on holiday but need peace of mind that while youre away youre property and all its contents will be safe. Your property is vulnerable when it is empty never advertise the fact that your away on holiday. You can get a home insurance policy to protect your home, but you can do other things as well.

You can secure your home yourself by making sure all the doors and windows are fitted with approved locks, this will help to prevent burglars getting in. Also dont leave your spare house keys hidden under the door mat.

Installing a burglar alarm at your property will also act as a deterrent with the alarm box fixed at the front of your house so everyone can see it. Home security also includes outbuildings, sheds and garages. So make sure they are locked to keep out unwanted thieves. Make sure you place ladders and any tools that a burglar could you to gain access to your home, in the garage or shed.

Placing exterior lighting up at your home can also deter thieves if they try to gain access, so install a movement activated lighting system.

So remember, make sure before you go off on holiday or just away for a few days to always lock your doors and windows securely. Plus get rid of any keys and financial documents that might be lying around. Its a good idea to let your neighbours know that you are going away, so they can keep on eye on your home. You could ask a neighbour or friend to come and regularly check on your property too. You could ask them to make your house look occupied by drawing the curtains and maybe watering the garden plants. Some people put lights and a radio on a timer, so that it looks like someone is home.
